About Maia

I am a registered clinical psychologist practising from Oakdale Practice in Newlands. I work with adult individuals, adolescents, children, and families. I work from an integrative psychodynamic approach, but I also incorporate other modalities depending on the client’s needs. I aim to create a safe, empathic, and collaborative therapeutic environment.  I work from an LGBTIQA+ affirmative stance.

Why therapy

Welcome. Making the decision to start therapy takes courage, and finding the right therapist for you or your family is essential. Feel free to explore my site and ask me any questions you might have.

So, why therapy? People seek therapy for many reasons. Therapy can help you or your child to:

  • Overcome distressing symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, and other psychiatric disorders.

  • Learn to manage overwhelming emotions.

  • Understand the patterns in your life that may be repeating themselves and hindering your development.

  • Improve relationships with family, friends, colleagues, and yourself.

  • Process past traumas and experiences that may be preventing you from functioning optimally in the present.

  • Improve you understanding of yourself and focus on personal growth and development.
